Flights between İzmir Adnan Menderes and Bucharest have commenced
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport welcomed Wizz Air's flight from Bucharest with a ceremony. Wizz Air will operate direct flights on the İzmir-Bucharest route three times a week throughout the season.

Operated by TAV Airports, İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport greeted Wizz Air's inaugural flight from Bucharest today (June 28). The flight, numbered W4 3125 and conducted with an Airbus A321, brought 200 passengers to İzmir. Passengers were welcomed with flowers at the terminal. Wizz Air will continue direct flights between İzmir and Bucharest on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays until October 20, 2024.

TAV Ege General Manager Erkan Balcı stated, "We are delighted to resume direct flights between İzmir and Bucharest after five years. Collaborating with our partners, we aim to connect İzmir to the world with these direct routes. We look forward to welcoming passengers from across the globe."

With a total of 42 airlines operating flights to 73 different destinations in 38 countries, İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 1.3 million international passengers in the first five months of 2024, marking a 31% increase compared to the same period last year. The total number of passengers reached 4.1 million, reflecting a 15% increase over the same period.
